Archivist is a client-side Minecraft mod paired with a web platform. The mod detects information that servers publicly share with every connected player — things like plugins, version strings, and player counts. The website at archivist-web.net lets you browse, search, and contribute to a shared database of that data.
Accounts are created through Discord OAuth. You're responsible for keeping your login and API key secure — treat your API key like a password and don't share it with anyone. If you believe your key has been compromised, regenerate it from your dashboard immediately.
Use Archivist in good faith. Don't submit false or fabricated data. Don't try to exploit the platform or the API. Don't harass anyone — server operators, players, or other community members. Don't hammer the API beyond reasonable use. If we need to restrict access to your account, we'll do our best to let you know why. Serious or repeated violations of these guidelines may result in suspension.
When you upload scan data or GUI detection rules, you grant Archivist a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute that data as part of the public database. You can delete your own uploads within 24 hours through the dashboard. After that window, reach out to us and we'll handle it. If you operate a server listed on Archivist and want it removed, contact us with proof of ownership. We'll delist the server, remove all associated scan data, and block it from future indexing.
From the mod, we collect server IP addresses, ports, and domains; server brand and version; player counts; detected plugins and detection methods; URLs and server addresses from chat; world and dimension names; and resource pack URLs. All of this is stored locally first as JSON files. Uploading to archivist-web.net is entirely optional and requires explicit configuration. From the website, we store your Discord username (via OAuth), API key metadata (hashed — never stored in plaintext after generation), scan data you choose to upload, and GUI detection rules you contribute.
Your IP address is never stored in plaintext — all IPs are immediately hashed using SHA-256 with a salt before any database storage. We don't collect or derive geolocation data. We don't store chat logs or private messages (only extracted URLs and server addresses are captured). We never access private server files or configurations. Your Minecraft credentials and tokens are never transmitted to our servers. We use collected data to build and maintain a public database of Minecraft server plugins, to display server information on the platform, to enforce rate limits using hashed IP addresses, and to identify and prevent abuse.
You can delete your own uploaded scans within 24 hours via the dashboard. After that, contact an administrator for removal. Server operators can request delisting at any time. Account deletion requests can be made through Discord — we'll remove your profile, API keys, and contributed rules.
We use Supabase for database hosting and authentication, Vercel for website hosting, Discord as our OAuth authentication provider, and Upstash Redis for rate limiting (temporary, auto-expiring data only).
We may update this page. If we make significant changes, we'll note them in the version history above. Questions, concerns, or data removal requests? Reach us on Discord at discord.gg/archivist or email contact@archivist-web.net.
